Montana Firearms Instructor (MLEA / POST ) - PLUS Victory First - RDS Handgun Instructor - Miles City, MT

Dual Certification week in Miles City, Montana

Day 1 & 2 will consist of the Montana State Firearms Instructor course presented by MLEA (Sept 18-19)
The next 3 days will be the Victory First RDS for Law Enforcement Handgun Instructor Course.  (Sept 20-22)
The RDS course is POST approved. 

 

*** The tuition enrolls a student in BOTH courses. MLEA doesn't charge for the Firearms Instructor course. ***

 

 ***  These courses are both approved for MT POST and are approved by MLEA.  ***

 

 $700.00 - Tuition covers BOTH courses for the student.

Upon successful completion of the week the student will have the Montana State Firearms Instructor Certificate and RDS for Law Enforcement Instructor from Victory First, which is POST certified.

Montana Firearms Instructor Course (MLEA) : September 18-19, 2023

Objectives :

(i) Firearms Safety;

(ii) Role of the Instructor;

(iii) Civil and Criminal liability exposure;

(iv) Instructional techniques for Firearms Instructors;

(v) Operation of the firing line;

(vi) Range Preparation;

(vii) Handgun:

(viii) Disabled Officer techniques; and

(ix) Low Light shooting techniques.

 

RDS Handgun for Law Enforcement (Victory First) - September 20-22, 2023

Learning Objectives:

Develop, present, maintain and qualify department personnel in the use of duty handgun mounted RDS. (red dot sights)

Students will be able to develop a proper lesson plan.

Students will able to Instruct the proper setup, deployment maintenance of various pistol mounted RDS.

Students will be able to properly diagnose common issues with new or intermediate shooters using the pistol mounted RDS.

Students will be able to implement a viable Pistol RDS syllabus.

Students will be able to pass and conduct pistol mounted RDS qualification course of fire.

Required Kit:

  • Wrap around Eye Protection
  • Ear protection (electronic preferred)
  • Baseball style hat
  • Duty belt / patrol pistol belt
  • Range food / WATER
  • Seasonal weather gear / rain gear
  • Duty handgun, preferably 12 round capacity or higher
  • Single stack .45’s are fine, just need to increase magazine count to 8 minimum
  • 1500 rounds of factory ammunition (Will suffice for BOTH courses) 
  • Cleaning kit / lubrication
  • NOTE TAKING MATERIALS


** Holsters MUST be capable of holstering without use of the support hand. Old leather pancake style or inside the waistband holsters that do not retain their opening when the handgun is removed are NOT permitted.
** Shoulder rigs ARE NOT permitted **
